Charter College to Host Veterans Career & Resource Fair

Charter College is hosting a Veterans Career & Resource Fair on Thursday, July 9, 2015, 10am-2pm at the California Army National Guard, 17330 Victory Boulevard in Van Nuys.

This event brings together veterans and their families, veteran service providers and area employers. “This is our way of thanking and supporting our veterans and recognizing the sacrifices they’ve made to keep America free,” said Charter College - Canyon Country Director of Community Outreach Mina Creswell, one of the sponsors of the event.

Dozens of employers who are actively seeking job applicants will be on hand, providing attendees with a tremendous opportunity to secure employment. Employers and resources scheduled to attend include: Southern California Health Institute, Electro Rent Corporation, Department of Rehabilitation, Congressman Tony Cardenas, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Valley Interfaith Council, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Time Warner Cable, Enterprise Holdings Inc., Securitas Security, the Dept. of Veteran Affairs, Mindful Warrior Project, Department of Veteran Affairs, Avon, UPS, Blue of California,Costco, Six Flags and Silhouettes for Vets.

All attendees will receive information on employment opportunities, governmental & private assistance, training information, free lunch and entertainment. There will also be free activities for the kids, massage by Sochi and haircuts by Toni & Guy Hair Dressing Academy in Santa Monica.

The event will also host informational presentations by guest speakers, including: Thomas Flournoy, Chief of EDD; Brian Gavidia, Field Representative; U.S. Representative Tony Cárdenas; and Michael Dolphin, Work Force Consultant /Retired Division Chief of EDD.

The Veteran Career & Resource Fair is offered to the community in partnership with Charter College, The Valley Economic Alliance, State of California Employment Development Department, Vet Center, VA Health Care and Habitat for Humanity.
