Pasco Campus Raises Money for Breast Cancer Awareness

Charter College Pasco celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October with a variety of activities, ultimately raising nearly $1,100 for the Tri-Center Cancer Care Foundation.

“Banding together for such a great cause has been one of the highlights of this effort,” said Campus President Dr. Brenda Slusser. “Everyone really got into the spirit of fundraising to raise awareness of breast cancer and how important it is to regularly check, regardless of age, as breast cancer does not care about age.”

The week of October 9, everyone on campus got together to “Think Pink.” The breakroom was decorated in pink and all students, staff and faculty members were invited to post a remembrance of someone who had passed, or celebrate someone who survived.

The following week, they joined together to “Get Pink.” The staff and faculty put together ten pink silent auction items that were offered for sale, raising more than $400.

The week of October 23 was “Be Pink,” when the campus was awash in a sea of pink clothing. The campus also hosted a Coin War that week. The Medical Assisting team raised the most - $125, receiving a pizza party for their efforts. The staff team raised more than $360, for a total of more than $650 raised through campus efforts.

“Charter College is committed to getting involved and giving back to our community,” said Dr. Slusser. “During the month of October, the staff, faculty and students showed through their commitment to fighting cancer and raising awareness. It was heartwarming to be a part of and to see everyone’s involvement!”
