Charter College Anchorage to Host Nursing Educator Session

Free Professional Development Session for Nursing Educators on Saturday, August 30

Charter College is hosting “Creative ways to teach a diverse learner: It’s all about engagement,” for nursing educators, Saturday, August 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Charter College Anchorage campus at 2221 East Northern Lights Blvd., Suite 120.

In this free Educator Professional Development Session, led by Michele L. Deck, RN, MEd, BSN, LCCE, FACCE, attendees will learn techniques for teaching adults with various learning styles. Attendee must attend the entire presentation (7.5 hours) to earn CE credit.

Topics will include:

·       Learner engagement - The four types of learner engagement and how this relates to adult education

·       Teaching strategies - Proven research-based interactive teaching techniques for the classroom

·       Four generations in workplace/school/facilities – Identifying what is of value and importance to traditionalists, baby boomers, generation X and millennial generations

·       Seven things Gen Xers want – Analyzing ideas that Gen Xers want from those who teach them, with strategies adaptable to the classroom

Deck is an internationally renowned presenter, author, educator and the President/Chief Executive Officer of G.A.M.E.S., a company that provides seminars for any organization, specializing in adult learning and interactive teaching methods.
