Charter College Anchorage Among Safest Campuses in America

Published: September 15, 2021

Charter College recently ranked #11 on the 2022 Safest College Campuses in America rankings by college data and review site Niche. According to Niche, the site uses key statistics and student reviews pulled from U.S. Department of Education data to determine which campuses offer a safe and healthy environment with little or no campus crime, drugs, or alcohol usage.

Campus Safety a Charter College Priority

Natalie Tsay of Niche noted that “campus safety is a huge priority for prospective students.”

It is for Charter College too! We make every effort to ensure our students’ personal safety and to protect property on all the Charter College campuses. We promote a safe and secure environment for all campus members and visitors and have developed policies and procedures to help ensure that every possible precaution is taken to protect people on campus from harm or theft.

“We’re very proud to receive recognition for our efforts to provide our students, staff, and faculty with a safe learning environment,” said Campus President Joshua Bicchinella. “It is truly a team effort, though. We wouldn’t be one of the safest colleges in America without the cooperation of everyone on campus.”

According to Bicchinella, Charter College has strict policies on how people must behave on campus and how and when transgressions must be reported. Charter College is required by law to provide an annual campus security report that includes information about on and off-campus incidents. Crimes that must be reported include:

  • Murder and non-negligent manslaughter
  • Negligent manslaughter
  • Forcible sex offenses
  • Violence Against Women Act
  • Non-forcible sex offenses
  • Robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Burglary
  • Motor vehicle theft
  • Arson

Charter College Campus Security Reports

Current and prospective students can view the Campus Security Report at any time, but the publication is distributed every year. In addition to incidents, the report outlines what to do in the event of an emergency such as an active shooter, bomb threat, earthquake, or evacuation order. It also explains how students and staff should report criminal acts to the Campus President or a member of the campus management staff. All reports are kept confidential.

At Charter College our priority is to provide our students with an education and training that will help them find a job in a career they can love. But we know you can’t study and learn unless you feel safe. We’ve always known safety is critical and we’re happy to see our efforts have paid off.
