Become Part of the Expanding Industry of Dentistry

The dental industry is a constantly expanding industry. There are numerous different aspects of care and corresponding careers housed in a single dental office. When you look around, you may assume that everyone in a white coat is a dentist or a hygienist, but there are also a number of dental assistants in the office. All three of these jobs -- dentist, hygienist and dental assistant -- help your dentist's office handle each patient's needs smoothly and efficiently.

Year over year, there has been an increase in the growth and demand for assistants and technicians in the dental profession. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that for dental assistants alone, there will be an increased demand of more than 74,000 jobs between now and 2022.

For each issue a person might experience with his/her mouth or teeth, there is a corresponding area of practice. The dental industry seems to have almost no limitations -- child dentistry, senior dentistry, implants, cosmetic dentistry and teeth whitening, just to name a few. Plus, there is always a way to progress in the dental field with a passion for the subject matter and continued education.

The expansion of public education for dental hygiene and care is also contributing to the growth of the dental field. As the world has become increasingly technology-based, the availability of blended learning options and online degree programs in California has risen.

The need for dentists and oral health professionals will only continue to grow, and the dental industry is poised to feel the benefits.
