5 Tips to Balance Work, Home, and School

Do you want to find balance between your work, home, and school life? Juggling your busy life can be challenging, but here are 5 tips to help you succeed in all areas of your life:

1. Stick to a Routine
Don’t let your busy schedule turn your life upside down. Create a routine that works for you. If you’re a parent, you know that sticking to a schedule is important for children’s wellbeing. Children are susceptible to stress and anxiety when there’s a lack consistency or order in their life. Find a routine that works for everyone in the family and stick to it.

2. Prepare for the Unexpected
No matter how much planning you do ahead of time, the unexpected can always happen. Always have a backup plan in place to deal with the things that are out of your control. If daycare falls through, you get sick, or weather causes delays, you’ll be ready.

3. Be in the Moment
When you juggle many different responsibilities, it’s easy to get distracted. Don’t split your focus or try to multitask. Multitasking actually makes you less productive, meaning it’ll take you longer to complete a task.1 You’ll be much more efficient if you focus on one thing at a time. Embrace quality time with your family and take a break to relax and recharge.

4. Track your Accomplishments
With everything that goes on in life, it’s easy to lose track. Keep a running list of all your accomplishments. When it comes time to finalize your résumé and apply for a position in your field, it might be hard to remember all that you’ve done. If you document as you go, you’ll save a lot of time in the long run.

5. Find the Right Program
It’s never too late to get an education! Many career colleges offer flexible class schedules with day and evening options. You could even take advantage of online classes where you can learn in the comfort of your own home, on your own time.

At Charter College, we can help make your education fit your life, and not the other way around. We offer a variety of programs in high-demand fields including healthcare, business, IT, and the trades. With classes starting every five weeks, get started today!
