ACICS Show-Cause Status:
Notice to students and prospective students: The Certificate in Pharmacy Technician program at Charter College, Fife, has been placed on student achievement show-cause by their accreditor, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (“ACICS”), due to material noncompliance with its licensure pass rate standard of 60%.
The licensure pass rate reported in the 2015-2016 Campus Accountability Report (CAR) is available here under “Retention, Placement, and Licensure Rates”. The rate reported in the 2015-2016 CAR was, as defined by ACICS, “based on licensure pass rate published by the licensing agency”. That report is published by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (“PTCB”); the report showed a pass rate of 41% which was reported to ACICS and led to the program-level show cause. The PTCB report is specific to certification-attempters who tested at the campus, which may include non-Charter College students, and is not necessarily reflective of the completers and graduates during the 2015-2016 reporting period.
It is important to note that ACICS has since modified its definition of the licensure pass rate to include “…a self-generated report identifying the licensure status of every completer or graduate [during the reporting period]”. Applying this definition to the 2015-2016 reporting period, the College has, and can support with evidence, a licensure pass rate of 100%. The College is prepared to submit this evidence to ACICS for the 2015-2016 reporting period, along with a mid-year licensure pass rate of 100% for 2016-2017. The College stands firmly behind the curriculum of the program and our graduate’s ability to complete the program, successfully attempt the certification exam, and seek employment in the field.
All online programs are offered through Charter College Vancouver.
