Charter College, LLC at Mat-Su a growing proprietary college and is currently recruiting for a Student Serves Officer. Inspired by an interest to provide exceptional customer service, the Department of Student Services (DSS) assists students on many levels in a convenient one-stop environment. Prospective, current, and returning students meet with Student Service Officers for many services including, but not limited to, educational counseling, registration, financial aid needs assessment and application, and tuition payments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet with prospective students, explain financial aid programs and requirements and estimate funding eligibility
- Collect all required documentation to complete initial financial aid awarding process with prospective and current students and secure adequate funding to cover all educational expenses
- Provide entrance and exit counseling at appropriate times to encourage responsible debt management and ensure regulatory compliance
- Encourage and process timely student payments
- Adhere to regulations as set forth by governing agencies and institutional policies
- Collect and process necessary paperwork for enrollment
- Register students in appropriate courses for the upcoming term/module
- Identify and process withdrawals, drops, and other student status changes
- Advise students on the consequences of adding and dropping courses, withdrawals, and Leaves of absence, if applicable
- Process grades, incompletes, and calculate satisfactory academic progress
- Assistance with federal, state, VA, and accrediting agency audits
- Statistical reporting
- Other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Ideal candidates will possess the following minimum requirements/attributes:
• AAS degree in accounting or business related field preferred
• Industry experience in registrar, financial aid, educational counseling or student accounts
• Customer service experience
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills
- Other applicable skills/traits:
• Team-player but able to work independently
• Detail oriented and well-organized
• Positive attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
