Charter College is a fast growing, private degree granting college with campuses in Anchorage and Wasilla with a growing student population and expanded degree offerings in Information Technology, Business, Accounting, AutoCad and Healthcare.
We are looking for a take charge, get out of my way, here I come manager to oversee the Student Services Department. What is student services? Think financial aid, student records and the bursars office. What does a Director of Students Services do? Well you pretty much make it possible for highly motivated people to achieve their academic and professional dreams.
If you are a life changing dynamic manager who loves to put smiles on faces, then this is the position for you. You will oversee the administration of the college’s student finance department, student counseling, bookstore, and academic record management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure clients are provided consistent, efficient and friendly customer service in all areas.
- Assist with recruitment of new clients and retention of current clients
- Assist in the hiring of and provide daily supervision of department staff, monitor staffing levels and workloads to ensure adequate/competent staffing/cross-training and monitor proper workload assignment to produce consistent quality service. Provide regular training to ensure consistent application of current policies/procedures
- Maintain current working knowledge of Federal regulations and assist in development and implementation of institutional policies/procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and other governing agency regulations
- Direct the process by which staff determine eligibility for, certify and disburse federal, state, and alternative funding while adhering to regulatory requirements
- Manage processing of all existing client records and coordinate efforts with the corporate office to ensure consistent and appropriate and timely refunds
- Ensure all clients are adequately financed to cover costs and promote consistent client collections
- Identify and manage all client receivables to facilitate proper and timely collection of funds
- Follow up on client complaints, petitions, or other requests for consideration
- Oversee collection of all documentation and management of all client records including paper and electronic files
- Oversee delivery functions including, but not limited to, scheduling, registration, assignments, attendance and delivery submissions and processing, satisfactory program progress, etc
- Maintain solid understanding of products, product cycle, program and requirements and modifications
- Coordinate efforts with various parties to complete required statistical reporting
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Verifiable managerial experience required
- Bachelor degree preferred
- 5 years previous professional work experience in managing and delivering accounting or financial services or Federal, State or local aid preferred but not required.
- Candidates should demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Be able to work in, promote, and lead in a team oriented environment
- Have experience in management of projects and conflict resolution.
- Posses a strong aptitude for mathematics and accounting
- MS Windows based computer software applications is a plus.
- Ability to travel on occasion is required.
